The Artemis Women’s Health Foundation operates under the umbrella of Fondation des Fondateurs, which is registered with and supervised by the Swiss Federal Council of Foundations.
Our purpose: to build a stronger ecosystem for Women's Health innovation.
Closing the gender health gap
To close the gender health gap, women need better diagnostics and treatments. There are too few innovations in Women’s Health, taking too long, failing too often. That’s why
improvements needed at all stages: research, translation, development, and access. The Artemis Foundation helps to build a stronger ecosystem for Women’s Health Innovation
- Women’s Health is a large and diverse field. It refers not only to diseases that only occur in women (such as the Reproductive Medicine), but also to those conditions that are more frequent or different in women.
- The fact is that genes and sex hormones of men and women are different; they induce different effects on organs, tissues and cells throughout the body.
- One example of innovation in Women’s Health are HPV Vaccines. Cervical Cancer was the 4th most common cancer in women worldwide. More than 99% of cases were linked to high-risk HPV infections. It’s estimated that broad use of vaccination could prevent more than 13 million deaths by 2069.
